Last nights Survivor saw two unexpected departures as well as the discovery of the fake hidden immunity idol.
Jonathan Penner had to exit Survivor: Micronesia as an infection threatened to spread into his blood stream after he took a fall during last weeks immunity challenge. After the medic’s stitched him, his wounds never fully healed, the on-set medic said that he needed to get immediate medical attention or risk losing either his leg or his life.
Chet, the “amorphous blob”, of this season- who seems to have done nothing but shine his veneers in people’s faces has managed to make it this far, even out lasting the Incredible Hulk, Joel. He’s been a waste of space since the show debuted and he should, run, RUN, back to his job as a pageant coach. Chet begged the rest of his tribe to vote him out after he claimed he wedged a piece of coral into his foot during the last immunity challenge.
In other news Jason, found the fake penis-shaped immunity idol that Ozzy had carved out of a piece of wood and replaced after he found the real immunity idol. I can’t wake for Jason to use the idol… in a sexual way of course.
Chet left behind $55,000 and Jonathan left behind $80,000. That’s a bunch of money up for grabs this week. Chet’s money is going to Tracy, and Jonathan’s money is going to James.

Over the past couple months not only have we seen and heard of the great influx of reality shows but now they’re slowly making the crossover to gaming consoles. It started years ago with the release of the Survivor video game for the PC, which I bought and played- it was crap. Then they revamped it and re-released it as Survivor: Ultimate Edition, which was actually a lot better despite the fact it had a user based hosting system which meant when you voted out the person who was hosting the game they’d leave and the game would end.
We recently reported on America’s Next Top Model becoming a mobile game and now Dancing with the Stars has also become a video game (fainting not included) and now the Sims has released their own version of a Survivor-esque themed game called Sims 2: Castaway which has players ‘crashing’ onto a stranded island where they have to manage to survive.
I’m excited about the prospect of the kinds of games companies could make based on reality television shows. Particularly with the increased flux of Xbox Live Arcade Games, I’m waiting for an independent company to produce an online version of Big Brother. Endemol made a board game version of Big Brother- but an online version would be amazing.
